What is a Certified Healthcare Label Technician (CHLT)?
Caresfield's Certified Healthcare Label Technicians undergo extensive training to become experts at all of the major labels and printing systems used by healthcare organizations, including labels used by admissions, nursing, laboratories, pharmacies, and phlebotomy departments.
What does a CHLT do when visiting our facility?
A visit from a CHLT only takes about 15-30 minutes, and usually doesn't require an appointment with your Purchasing or Value Analysis teams. Because the CHLT is only coming on-site to gather the specs and samples of your current printers and labels, this visit is by nature quick and non-disruptive.

Please fill out the form on the right if you would like to have one of our CHLTs visit your organization to collect samples of your labels to provide a quick conversion turnaround.
CHLTs often uncover problems that department directors may not be aware of during their on-site visits, and can offer a quick and easy solution. For example, when collecting samples, a common scenario Caresfield CHLTs encounter is that labels are not sticking to the substrate appropriately and technicians create workarounds such as an additional piece of tape. A CHLT can quickly identify the cause and a solution for these workarounds that otherwise create a patient safety risk.
After initial certification, Caresfield CHLTs continue their training by staying on top of the latest specifications in healthcare standards and technologies for labels. CHLTs undergo two pieces of training a month, diving deeper into specialty topics, such as the regulations and best practices in medication labeling and compliance requirements for blood banks.
